Way to enjoy your food!

What do you mean by enjoyment?

When you want to enjoy life with your family, what does it mean?

When you want to enjoy a movie, what does it mean?

When you want to enjoy a song/ music, what does it mean?

Spending time with your family members is enjoying with your family,  spending time in a theater watching movies is enjoying a movie, spending time with your headphones/music system is enjoying music.

In the same way, spending a little more time with food is enjoying your food.

Keeping your food in your mouth for a little longer helps not only enjoy your food but also helps to break down the complex components into simpler things with the help of enzymes in your saliva.

How to keep your food for a little longer?

As we used to swallow as soon as we took the food into the mouth, breaking this habit is crucial!

Make sure you chew your food a little more, for example 32 times (yes your teeth count only ;)) before you swallow.

Swallowing is essential but not necessarily as soon as you take your food into your mouth.

Just by making sure you chew 32 times patiently enjoying the taste of the food to the fullest, converting it into almost liquid before you swallow can ensure that you enjoy the food and can make it easier for your digestive system to digest the food.

The chemicals which are released when our stomach feels full reaches the brain in a span of around 15 min or more.

Hence by delaying the eating process our brain will be able to tell us correctly when to stop.

The fast eaters miss this and go on taking beyond the point of satiety as when the satiety center sends signals they would have already taken more than what they really needed.

The slow eaters will be able to take enough food to keep them on as the signals reach them on time for them to stop eating.

How to get time for eating slowly In this fast paced world? As I mentioned in the first few lines, If you want to enjoy, you have to create time for your family, a movie or  music.

In the same way, schedule some time for eating as you schedule time for sleeping, working and so on.

This is a win-win situation. You will be enjoying the food to the fullest and at the same time you will not end up overeating.

Sandeep Maheshwari the great entrepreneur wrote in his plate in big letters the number “32” to remind him constantly to chew 32 times before swallowing. He lost around 15 kgs and became slim and fit in a span of a shorter period.

Use your own method and start giving time to enjoy your food!

Happy eating… no no.. happy enjoying your food!
